My name is Sheridan, though my friends and family normally call me Sheri.
God has allowed me to have two books published: a novel, Across Time, Across Tears and a nonfiction book, The Long Walk Home.
My books are Christian in tone and content because I cannot separate what I am from what I do.
I have also been blessed to co-author four independently produced screenplays, two for Last Acts Studio, and two for the University of Florida. The UF gigs, both comedies, have included directing the movies and acting a reprised character part, as well as co-producing the films with Dr. Edward Minchin, Jr. I also got to supervise the post-production video and sound for both movies. Lots of fun, hard work!
I am a born-again Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. I stand in awe of what God has done for me, dying an agonizing death in my place for no reason except that He loved me. His sacrifice for my undeserving soul has set me eternally free. Praise His holy name. He is ever-faithful, ever-merciful, and He is alive.
Rejoice evermore. I Thess 5:16
Gita Barker has been a dear friend of mine for many years. You would never know, unless someone told you, all that she has suffered in her life. The Long walk home is primarily about her early life leading up to and passing through the Second World War. PublishAmerica's Press Release says:
Frederick, MD April 15, 2009 -- PublishAmerica is thrilled to present The Long Walk Home, by Sheridan Elaine Claude.
World War II destroyed literally everything Gita cherished, leaving her destitute in a dangerous world. So began her lonely, heart-rending search for love and a country to call home. But God's absolute mercy was about to prove that even her worst ordeals would become her victory!
The Long Walk Home is the true story of Brigitta Poldemaa Barker, a young Estonian woman who struggled through horror and the loss of everything but life itself; a pertinent subject for today's uncertain times.
The book was selected to be featured during the week of April 20, 2009 as the "Book of the Week" at PublishAmerica, in the second week of release! This was a huge honor as it was chosen from among over 35,000 books! Gita and I were humbled and thankful and thrilled.
Shortly after being selected as Book of the Week, I was stunned to discover that The Long Walk Home was the #1 best selling title at PublishAmerica! It held the top sales position for nearly a month. Only God could have done such a miraculous thing. Gita and I give Him the honor and praise. It was an exhilarating experience!
Synopsis:
Across Time, Across Tears is a contemporary story about Rachel Cummins, a young American woman, whose parents operate a medical clinic in the Middle East. They are also undercover missionaries, to Rachel's horror and disgust.
When a nearby Christian village is destroyed, Rachel's family is certain the clinic will be next.
The phone lines are cut, and the clinic is attacked in a brutal raid that leaves Rachel alone, bitter and on the run. She travels with a group of Bedouins across the desert, then heads for the American Embassy. But, before she can reach her destination, she is betrayed and sold in an illegal slave market to the very prince who headed the raid on the clinic! Because Rachel is veiled when she is purchased, the prince has no idea who he has bought.
The story treads a redemptive road, dealing harsh lessons in forgiveness, humbling lessons in salvation, and the will to carry on in a world turned relentlessly dangerous.
Across Time, Across Tears takes the reader on a vivid journey across the sands of the Middle East, to an adrenaline-shocker finale in Washington D.C. The ending will leave the reader cheering.

I have been reading stories for Christian radio for twenty years, and this story would have my listeners riveted to their seats. What an adventure!! A definite treat for those looking for an exciting tale without wading through the typical fare found in most thrillers! ---Lynn Brooks, Christian Classics Narrator, Bible Broadcasting Network
I couldn't put it down! I couldn't sleep until I had finished it. Across Time, Across Tears had me so much in its grip that my teeth were chattering! ---Brigitta Barker, Estonian World War II Refugee
This topic is relevant to believers today. The strong storyline held our interest to the end! ---Steven and Ginny Saint; Steven is the author of End of the Spear.
On a Christian level, Across Time, Across Tears is as intense as anything John Grisham has written! ---Pat Stringer
Across Time, Across Tears sprints from the beginning and never slows down. ---Mark Stringer
Delightfully riveting! . . . and that's Karen Dunn, not USA Today! . . . Rachel is about to land at Dulles . . . things are really heating up! Got to get back to it . . . can't hardly put it down! ---Karen Dunn
Across Time, Across Tears is one of my favorite books of all time. The characters are so real, it seems strange not to hear about them on the evening news! ---Naomi McLain
Across Time, Across Tears is the best book I have ever read! . . . Ever since Jesse and Rebecah began reading (it), they have loved it every bit as much as I do. It would be the complete truth if I told you we have much of the book memorized. ---Deborah Zamora
The book is a Christian based adventure/romance, with liberal amounts of action and humor.
The book addresses the issues of love and forgiveness, without resorting to the use of bad language or risque scenes. However, because of the nature of the story, it has some violence, though never gratuitous nor graphic. The story has been fully enjoyed by adults and children alike.
